Welcome to The Royal School

We are delighted to share with you something of the character and life of the Royal School Armagh; its stunning setting  and the extensive range of facilities.

The Royal School Armagh aims to provide its pupils with an education which in its wholeness will enable them to achieve their full potential in academic, social, moral and spiritual terms.  The values of the School, both implicitly and explicitly, reflect and are informed by the reformed tradition of the Christian faith.  The School warmly welcomes the presence of pupils and staff of other Christian traditions, other world faiths and those with no religious convictions.

The Schools’ Cup Final

Due to the magnificent achievement of the 1st XV rugby team reaching the final of the Ulster Schools’ Cup for only the third time in one hundred years, changes have to be made to the original schedule for Monday 19th March 2018, the day of the final against Campbell College.

An Introduction to the Royal School

Why Study at the Royal School

Academic work is central to our goal of nurturing the whole person. Pupils are encouraged to develop intellectual curiosity, to question received wisdoms, to think deeply and engage with serious subjects across a range of academic disciplines, and to articulate their own thoughts. The metacognitive skills of learning to learn are imparted through Learning Logs, and a highly effective Assessment for Learning Programme and the input of outside agencies. Pupils are taught how to learn.

The School prides itself on its high-quality pastoral care, and this includes enabling academic excellence and achievement. Highly qualified teachers give extensive support in a relaxed and open environment.
