Science Club in the Royal School Armagh has been running successfully for the last three years. The purpose of the club is to engage and stimulate pupils’ interest in Science. Year 8 pupils have been attending the fortnightly club to look at aspects of Science in the fields of Biology, Chemistry and Physics in a dynamic, exciting and innovative fashion. So far this year the pupils have journeyed the school grounds, saved the egg, manufactured rocket fuel, made slime and generated fireworks. Along the way they’ve developed their skills in problem solving, working as a group, planning ahead and adapting when required.
It is the plan that Dr. Holdsworth, Dr. Holland, Mr. Swann and Mrs. Buchanan will continue to provide opportunities for growing numbers of young people to express their ideas and bring them to fruition – all the time pursuing the philosophy that in Science NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!
