More fantastic results at The Royal School

Congratulations to all our pupils who have received their GCSE results. This year’s attainment is truly outstanding and we are very proud of you all. It was lovely to be part of your celebrations when you came in to get your results.

RSA pupils have performed exceptionally well; almost 57% of entries achieved grade A*/A while 79% of all grades were within the A* – B range!

A magnificent 36 pupils achieved 8 or more A*/A grades in the full courses they studied, including three pupils who each achieved 11A* grades!

The percentage of pupils achieving at least seven GCSEs at the top grades, A*-C, including English and maths increased to almost 93%. This was 4% up on 2019, the last time examinations were taken.

We are delighted with the achievements of all our pupils. Each grade earned is an achievement and we know the work so many of you put in to reach your potential. Enjoy it, this is your moment. You thoroughly deserve it; especially when we consider the disruption you have faced with so much of your learning. GCSEs are a key stage in your educational journey and these results provide you with a really sound foundation for A Level studies.

Commenting on the results Mr Montgomery said, “Education is about opening up life opportunities for young people and behind each batch of statistics is a young person who has worked really hard for two years. The support of families is crucial in helping our young people to achieve their potential, as is the input of well qualified and enthusiastic teachers. It’s a community effort with the young people placed front and centre, and we are delighted for them.

What is particularly nice is that, despite media predictions to the opposite, our pupils’ attainment in these examinations is consistent with pupil attainment in 2020 and 2021. We are so proud of all our pupils because we know how hard they have worked”.
