2022 A Level Exam Success at the Royal School
Congratulations to all our pupils who received results yesterday. We are so proud of you and delighted at your success. It was fantastic to welcome you into school yesterday after two years of restrictions.
RSA pupils have performed exceptionally well; almost 57% of entries achieved grade A*/A while 80% of all grades were within the A* – B range!
An impressive 40 pupils achieved 3 or more A*/A grades, including Lucy Addis and Summer Law who each achieved 4 A* grades, and seven further pupils who achieved at least 4 As each.
The percentage of pupils achieving three A Levels at the top grades, A*-C, increased to 80% while the overall A Level pass rate was 100%. One pupil has successfully won a place at The Queens College, Oxford.
This success is firstly a credit to the young people who have studied hard and performed well. It is also a tribute to the commitment and professionalism of our staff and clear evidence of all the encouragement, support and co-operation of parents and wider families.
What is particularly nice is that, despite media predictions to the opposite, our pupils’ attainment in these examinations is consistent with pupil attainment in 2020 and 2021. It is vital to remember that A Levels are a key stage in the educational journey of individuals. Education is about opening up life opportunities for young people and behind each batch of cohort statistics is an actual young person and a real family whose dreams have moved a step closer to realisation. We are so proud of all our pupils because we know how hard they have worked.
Performance at AS was exceptional as pupils built on their excellent GCSE achievements last year. Attainment at A-C was up over 12% from 2019, the last time external examinations were sat and at 92% was actually on a par with attainment in both 2020 and 2021. An amazing 42 pupils achieved 3 or more A grades which included 17 who achieved 4 A grades. This can only provide an excellent platform for final A level results next August.
